This is one of the provincial parks I was talking about. We stayed two days in widely spaced, mostly flat spaces. Even Big Mama had a nice place in the sun.
While there, the boys did a little bit more work on Big Mama's generator. While dry camping, Tom and Paula discovered that some things weren't working on generator power. Huge bummer. The guys put their heads together and ultimately discovered the surge protector was sensing an overload from the generator and closing the door. Kind of like when our surge protector went on the fritz and protected us from receiving ANY power. Not good.
They pulled off a little electrical trickery and made it work till the next stop in Haines, AK. Of course there is a happy ending in Haines.
Meanwhile we took walks and looked at the falls from a beautiful boardwalk over the water. Not bad, huh?
We also headed into Haines Junction to check out the Muffin. What, do you ask, is the Muffin?
The Haines Junction Village Monument is an art installation on the Haines Junction Walking Tour depicting local wildlife. You can see the reason for the affectionate nickname. Joan and I even got into the act. We do love the photo boards!
We also had a chance to see Our Lady of the Way Catholic Church (yes, it's made from a quonset hut) and the Antler Street Sign. We are seeing antlers as a theme in the north.
On to the sea...
